Chainsmokers equal longest run at #1 in 2016

With its eighth straight week at #1, ‘Closer’ by The Chainsmokers has drawn level with Lukas Graham’s ‘7 Years’ (#1 Feb. ’16) for the most week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart in 2016.

A jump of 22 spots has seen James Arthur’s ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ hit #3 in its second week in the top 50. It’s one spot below Arthur’s chart peak with ‘Impossible’ (#2 Feb. ’13).

In the same week its parent album, Illuminate, debuts at #3, Shawn Mendes’ ‘Mercy’ moves up 13 spots to #22, snaring a new peak.

The all-star country mash-up ‘Forever Country’ has jumped 17 spots from last week’s debut positon of #43. It debuted at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100.

With Young As The Morning Old As The Sea debuting at #1 on the Albums Chart, Passenger’s ‘Anywhere’ (#43 Sept. ’16) has re-entered the chart at #46.

#9: The Weeknd Feat. Daft Punk ‘Starboy’ – The title track and first single from The Weeknd’s forthcoming third album. It’s the Canadian artist’s first Singles Chart entry for 2016. He had four entries in 2015: ‘Earned It’ (#13 Feb. ’15), ‘The Hills’ (#3 Oct. ’15), ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ (#2 Jul. ’15) and ‘In The Night’ (#13 Dec. ’15).
