Former One Direction member Zayn Malik, picks up his first solo No.1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with debut single, Pillowtalk. It is the first track to come from Mallik’s forthcoming debut solo album Mind Of Mine, which is due for release in March. In its third week, the debut ARIA Charts appearance for 20 year old American artist Kiiara, has jumped into the Top 10 for the first time with Gold. A leap of eighteen spots for Stressed Out, lands Twenty One Pilots at No.11 this week. The track comes from Twenty One Pilots’ second album Blurryface (No.11 May ’15).

SINGLES

No.1         PILLOWTALK - Zayn.  Firmly displaying to the world that he truly can make it on his own, One Direction expat Zayn Malik has silenced the rumors by dropping his first solo single Pillowtalk.  The single is a downtempo R&B track, in which many of the music world have regarded as a welcome change of pace for the pop star. The single has also topped both US and UK charts this week.

No.10       WORK - Rihanna Feat. Drake.  In the week that much-anticipated eighth album Anti was finally been unleashed, Rihanna also picks up her 21st Top 10 single as a lead artist on the ARIA Singles Chart. Work is the lead single from Anti and features Drake. Rihanna first hit the Top 10 with Pon De Replay (No.6 Nov. ’05).

No.23       SMOKE & RETRIBUTION - Flume Feat. Vince Staples & Kucka. With Never Be Like You sitting at No.2 for a second straight week, Flume picks up another ARIA Singles Chart entry with Smoke & Retribution. It will also feature on the producer’s forthcoming album Skin

No.25       SUMMER SIXTEEN - Drake.  No stranger to the ARIA Singles Chart, Canadian rapper Drake has made his fifth appearance in the Top 50 with Summer Sixteen. The single is tipped to be the lead single off upcoming fourth album Views From The 6, due out April this year. Drake pulled up just short of the top spot late last year with his highest chart peak, Hotline Bling (No.2 Oct. ’15).

No.55       REMIND ME - Conrad Sewell.  The ARIA Award winning Australian singer-songwriter Conrad Sewell, has once again graced the ARIA Singles Chart this week. Remind Me is a cut off the young Brisbane native’s debut EP All I Know (No.9 Nov. ’15) which also features his No.1 single, Start Again (No.1 June ’15). The track picked up the ARIA Award for Song Of The Year at last year’s ceremony.

No.78       THE RIGHT SONG – Tiesto & Oliver Heldens Feat. Natalie La Rose. The new club anthem that has begun to heat up those icy dance floors all over Europe has finally hit the sandy shores of Australia. Adequately named The Right Song, is the work of Dutch super DJ/producer Tiesto and his fellow countryman Oliver Heldens. The track is said to be the vocal version of their previously released instrumental piece Wombass and this re-worked version includes the vocals of Dutch singer and songwriter Natalie La Rose. Tiesto’s highest peak on the ARIA Singles Chart was in 2014 with his track Red Lights (No.8 Jan. ’14).

No.95       HYMN FOR THE WEEKEND - Coldplay.  Fresh off their Super Bowl 50 halftime show performance, the all-seeing, all-knowing gods of Brit-Pop, Coldplay grace our Singles Chart again.  Hymn For The Weekend is the second cut off their seventh studio album A Head Full Of Dreams (No.2 Dec. ’15) and features uncredited vocals from American singer extraordinaire Beyoncé.

ALBUMS

Sia picks up her second No.1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with This Is Acting. It is the Adelaide-born singer-songwriter’s seventh studio album and the follow-up to 2014 ARIA Album Of The Year 1000 Forms Of Fear. Rihanna returns with her first album in nearly four years, eighth album Anti. The follow-up to Unapologetic (No.8 Nov. ’12) includes the Drake-featuring single Work (No.10 this week). The debut album from American singer Charlie Puth, Nine Track Mind features the singles Marvin Gaye (No.4 May ’15) and One Call Away (No.3 this week). Some versions of the album feature Puth’s collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, See You Again (No.1 Apr. ’15).

No.1         THIS IS ACTING - Sia.  Australian songstress Sia, has once again taken the top spot with her seventh studio album, This Is Acting. Three tracks from the album have already hit the Singles Chart - Alive (No.10 Oct. ’15), Bird Set Free (No.36 Nov. ’15) and Cheap Thrills (No.27 Feb. ’16). The album gets its title from the fact that all songs on the album were originally written by Sia for other singers. This Is Acting is the second No.1 Australian album on the ARIA Charts for 2016.

No.5         ANTI - Rihanna. The Barbadian bombshell has made her sixth appearance in the Top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart. Anti is the singer’s eighth studio album and as executive producer, Rihanna contributed to most of the albums lyrics and collaborated with other producers including Jeff Bhasker, Boi-1da, DJ Mustard, Hit-Boy, Brian Kennedy, Timbaland and No I.D. to achieve her desired sound.

No.8         NINE TRACK MIND - Charlie Puth.  This is the long awaited debut album from American singer Charlie Puth. Nine Track Mind features a large array of guest artists including Meghan Trainor, Selena Gomez and Shy Carter. Puth is set to embark on his world tour in March.

No.10       THE ASTONISHING - Dream Theater.  American prog-metal band Dream Theater, pick up their first ever Top 10 on the ARIA Albums Chart with The Astonishing. The band’s thirteenth studio album comes three years on from their self-titled album (No.15 Sep. ’13). The new album marks their fifth Top 50 locally. The release is a double concept album originally imagined by guitarist John Petrucci and was written throughout 2015 by Petrucci and keyboard wizard Jordan Rudess.

No.15       HYMNS - Bloc Party.  British indie band Bloc Party, return with fifth album, Hymns. The follow-up to Four (No.3 Aug. ’12) is their first to be released with a new line-up. Their highest peak on the ARIA Albums Chart was with A Weekend In The City (No.2 Feb. ’07).

No.34       THE GUILT AND THE GRIEF - Polaris.  Sydney metalcore outfit Polaris, has made their ARIA Albums Chart debut with their second EP The Guilt And The Grief. The album comes off the back of their single and music video Regress last month. As they round off their current Australian tour supporting Dream On, Dreamer, the band prepares to grab 2016 by the horns and hit the road with Stories, Belle Haven and Perspectives.

No.36       LET ME GET BY - Tedeschi Trucks Band.  Making their highest ever chart debut is blues-rock group out of Florida, Tedeschi Trucks Band.  Led by husband-and-wife musicians Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, Let Me Get By is the band’s third studio album and first in as many years. The group has charted previously with Made Up Mind (No.48 Sep. ’13), Everybody's Talkin' (No.49 June ’16) and Revelator (No.71 June ’11).

No.75       PROMISE EVERYTHING - Basement.  After a short hiatus at the end of 2013, Ipswitch locals, Basement have reunited, re-focused and reinvented to deliver second studio album and first ARIA Albums Chart debut, Promise Everything. The band has commenced their UK/ European tour this week with the likes of Tigers Jaw and Alex G.

No.77       DON'T YOU - Wet.  Laser-focused, synth-pop, R&B collaborative Wet have made their chart debut with Don’t You. The band is a collective effort between artists Jeff Scott Soto, Erik Mårtensson and Robert Säll with the band taking their name from the first letter of the band name each member had played with - Work Of Art, Eclipse and Talisman.


No.86       DESTINY - Celtic Woman.  Esteemed all-female Irish musical ensemble Celtic Woman, have made a return to the ARIA Albums Chart with tenth studio album Destiny. The album is the first to feature their newest members Mairead Carlin and Éabha McMahon and marks the group’s sixth appearance on the Chart. The ladies have previously peaked with their release Songs From The Heart (No.48 Aug. ’10).
