Delta scores fourth #1 with Wings Of The Wild

Debuts for Blink-182, In Stereo, Diesel and more!

With her fifth album, Wings Of The Wild, Delta Goodrem has become the eleventh Australian artist to hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2016 (see below).

This week sees eleven debuts in the top 50, including in all three positions of the top three.

The biggest moves up the chart comes from Hilltop Hoods’ Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung (up 17 to #19). Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have the week’s biggest re-entry with This Unruly Mess I’ve Made coming back in at #36.

Debuts:

#1: Delta Goodrem ‘Wings Of The Wild’ – With her first album in four years, Delta Goodrem has notched up her fourth #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The follow-up to Child Of The Universe (#2 Nov. ’12) is Goodrem’s first #1 since Delta (#1 Oct. ’07). The singer-songwriter’s other two #1 Albums were achieved with Innocent Eyes (#1 Mar. ’03) and Mistaken Identity (#1 Nov. ’04). Wings Of The Wild features the singles ‘Only Human’ (#46 Mar. ’15), ‘Wings’ (#1 Aug. ’15), ‘Dear Life’ (#3 May ’16) and current single ‘Enough’ (#33 Jul. ’16).

#2: Blink-182 ‘California’ – The seventh studio album from American pop-punk veterans Blink-182. California is the band’s first album since Neighborhoods (#2 Oct. ’11) and the first to be released without founding member Tom DeLonge. It matches the band’s previous chart peak set by both Neighborhoods and Take Off Your Pants And Jacket (#2 Jun. ’01).

#3: In Stereo ‘The Speed Of Sound’ – After peaking at #1 in April with debut EP She's Rock n Roll, Sydney boyband In Stereo make their second Albums Chart appearance for 2016 thanks to second EP The Speed Of Sound. They’ve recently been on tour around Australia in support of the EP.

#8: Christine And The Queens ‘Christine And The Queens’ – Christine And The Queens is the stage name of French singer-songwriter Héloïse Letissier. The self-titled debut album peaked at #2 in France and #6 in the UK.

#12: Hillsong United ‘Of Dirt And Grace - Live From The Land’ – The ninth album to chart in the top 50 for Christian rock band Hillsong United. This live album features a live recording of the group’s fourth studio album Empires (#1 Jun. ’15).

#15: Diesel ‘Americana’ – With his first album in three years, Diesel pays tribute to his American roots with covers album Americana. The follow-up to Let It Fly (#31 Aug. ’13) features covers of tunes by the likes of Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Buddy Holly and Bob Dylan.

#27: Josh Pyke & The Sydney Symphony Orchestra ‘Live At The Sydney Opera House’ – Recorded in April 2015, this live album from singer-songwriter Josh Pyke features highlights from his two performances at the Sydney Opera House accompanied by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Pyke charted last year with fifth album But For All These Shrinking Hearts (#2 Aug. ’15).

#30: Eric Clapton & Guests ‘Crossroads Revisited Selections From The Crossroads Guitar Festivals’ – This live album brings together highlights from the 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2013 Crossroads Guitar Festivals. As well as Eric Clapton, it features performances by Jeff Beck, B.B. King, ZZ Top, Keith Urban, Gary Clark Jr, John Mayer and many more.

#32: Grace ‘FMA’ – The debut album from Australian singer-songwriter Grace Sewell. FMA – which stands for Forgive My Attitude – features former #1 single ‘You Don't Own Me’ (#1 May ’15).

#40: Bat For Lashes ‘The Bride’ – Album four from English indie pop artist Bat For Lashes (aka Natasha Khan). The follow-up to The Haunted Man (#21 Oct. ’12) becomes her second album to hit the ARIA top 50.

#49: Maxwell ‘blackSUMMERS'night’ – American R&B star Maxwell picks up his first top 50 appearance since 2001 with blackSUMMERS'night. It’s his fifth album and the sequel to the similarly-titled BLACKsummers'night of 2009. Maxwell last charted with Now (#32 Sept. ’01).
