Tame Impala wins Best International Brit

2015 Telstra Album Of The Year ARIA winners Tame Impala have a new addition to their ever-growing trophy collection after taking out the Best International Group category at Brit Awards, held in London overnight (24/2).

The Perth group, who’ve won eight  ARIA Awards, become the first Australia act since Kylie Minogue won Best International Female Solo Artist in 2008, to take home a Brit. They're the third Australian group to win Best International Group, following on from INXS in 1991 and Crowded House in 1994.

Tame Impala’s third album Currents debuted at #3 on the UK Albums Chart when it was released in July 2015, their highest peak to date.

Fellow multi-ARIA winner, Melbourne singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett, was nominated for Best International Female Solo Artist, which was taken out by Icelandic artist Bjork.
