Debuts for PartyNextDoor, Thy Art Is Murder and more!

The Amity Affliction has become the fourteenth Australian act to hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2016, debuting in the top spot with their fifth album This Could Be Heartbreak. Fourteen Australian #1s in a calendar year equals the ARIA record set in 2013.

A move of 13 spots in its 33rd week in the top 50 has given Blurryface its first top ten appearance. Twenty One Pilots’ fourth album previously peaked at #11 when it debuted on the chart in May 2015.

There have been further moves back into the top ten for Delta Goodrem’s Wings Of The Wild (up three to #8) and Beyonce’s Lemonade (up three to #9).

Among those also making moves up the Albums Chart this week are Hilltop Hoods’ Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung (up 18 to #11), Disturbed’s Immortalized (up 13 to #12) and Peter Garrett’s A Version Of Now (up eight to #25).

DJ Khaled’s Major Key is the week’s biggest re-entry, returning to the chart at #35.

Debuts:

#1: The Amity Affliction ‘This Could Be Heartbreak’ – Gympie metalcore band The Amity Affliction pick up their third straight #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with This Could Be Heartbreak. The band’s fifth album follows Chasing Ghosts (#1 Sept. ’12) and Let The Ocean Take Me (#1 Jun. ’14) into the top spot.

#13: PartyNextDoor ‘PartyNextDoor 3’ – The second album from PartyNextDoor gives the Canadian artist his first appearance in the ARIA top 50. PartyNextDoor 3 features an appearance by labelmate Drake.

#38: Thy Art Is Murder, The Acacia Strain, Fit for An Autopsy ‘The Depression Sessions’ – A split six track EP released by Deathcore bands Thy Art Is Murder, The Acacia Strain and Fit for An Autopsy. Sydney’s Thy Art Is Murder last charted with the album Holy War (#7 Jul. ’15). This is the first time American bands The Acacia Strain and Fit for An Autopsy have appeared in the top 50.

#40: Michael Stein & Kyle Dixon ‘Stranger Things, Vol. 1’ – The soundtrack to the hit Netflix sci-fi series Stranger Things. Dixon and Stein’s are members of Austin, Texas-based experimental synth quartet S U R V I V E.
