Who'll challenge Drake & The Temper Trap for #1 this week?

Contenders include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gojira and case/lang/veirs.

On last week’s ARIA Charts, Melbourne band The Temper Trap picked up their second #1 album with Thick As Thieves. On the Singles Chart, Drake returned for a fifth week to the top of the Singles Chart for with ‘One Dance’.

Which acts are in contention for this week’s ARIA Charts?

Let’s have a look at some of the possible debuts and movers.

ALBUMs

Returning with their first album in five years, The Getaway, Red Hot Chili Peppers will be aiming for their sixth #1 and first in ten years; French metal band Gojira could pick up a new ARIA Charts peak on the back of sixth album Magma; the new folk-rock supergroup featuring Neko Case, kd lang and Laura Veirs release their debut album, case/lang/veirs; British singer-songwriter Jake Bugg will be looking for a new peak with third album On My One; Sydney pop-punk band With Confidence could make their chart debut on the back of debut album Better Weather; American rapper YG could make his top 50 debut thanks to third album Still Brazy; a week after its cinema release the soundtrack to the film Me Before You could chart; Kevin Mitchell steps back into his Bob Evans persona for fifth album Car Boot Sale.

Leading the list of titles that could make a move up the chart this week is Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool, which is likely to see a resurgence following the release of physical versions. Other possible movers include Richard Marx’s The Ultimate Collection and Jai Waetford’s Heart Miles.

Singles

American duo Twenty One Pilots could snare a third Singles Chat entry with ‘Heathens’; Jarryd James returns with his first single of 2016, ‘1000x’, a collaboration with Kiwi duo Broods; as well as a likely high Albums Chart debut Red Hot Chili Peppers could pick up their first Singles Chart entry since 2011 with ‘Dark Necessities’; after topping the Singles Chart for eight weeks with ‘7 Years’, Danes Lukas Graham could pick up a second chart entry thanks to ‘Mama Said’.

Singles that could make a move up the ARIA Singles Chart this week include Dua Lipa’s ‘Be The One’, Charlie Puth’s ‘We Don't Talk Anymore’, Dami Im’s ‘Sound Of Silence’, The Veronicas’ ‘In My Blood’ and Imany’s ‘Don't Be So Shy’.
