Australian folk rock band The Waifs have become the fourth Australian act to hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2017, debuting in the top spot with their eighth album ‘Ironbark’ (see below).

With Adele currently touring the country, each of her three album releases make their way back up the album chart – ‘25’ is up one spot from last week to #3, ‘21’ jumps seven spots from last week to #10 and ‘19’ leaps 25 spots to #20.

After winning the Oscar for Best Original Score, as well as Best Original Song for 'City of Stars’, the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to La La Land makes its way back up the chart to #15.

‘The Best Of’ By The Wiggles jumps back up the chart to #39.

Debuts:

#1: The Waifs ‘Ironbark’ (Debut) – With their eighth studio album Australian folk rock band The Waifs score their first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with ‘Ironbark’ Their previous best was with ‘Sun Dirt Water’ when it debuted at #2 on September of 2007.

#2: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard ‘Flying Microtonal Banana’ (Debut) – With their ninth studio album Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard score their highest debut on the ARIA Albums Chart. ‘Flying Microtonal Banana’ is the first of five albums set to be released in 2017.

#4: Horrorshow ‘Bardo State’ (Debut) – ‘Bardo State’ is the fourth studio album by Australian hip hop duo Horrorshow. The follow-up to ‘King Amongst Many’ (#2 Aug. ’13), ‘Bardo State’ is the duo’s second album to hit the ARIA top 50 and their second top five.

#7: Holy Holy ‘Paint’ (Debut) – Album two from Holy Holy sees the Australian Indie rock band score their first top ten appearance on the ARIA Album Chart. Holy Holy’s second album comes two years on from their debut album ‘When The Storms Would Come’ (#11 Aug. ’15).

#11: Stormzy ‘Gang Signs & Prayers’ (Debut) – English grime and hip hop artist Stormzy makes his ARIA Album Chart debut with ‘Gang Signs & Prayers’.

#22: Christie Lamb ‘Loaded’ (Debut) – UK born / Australian based Country Music Singer makes her first Top 50 ARIA Album Chart appearance with ‘Loaded’.

#26: Little Big Town ‘The Breaker (Debut) – American country music group ‘Little Big Town’ make their Top 50 ARIA Album Chart debut with their eighth studio album ‘The Breaker’.

#34: Soundtrack ‘T2 Trainspotting’ (Debut) – The original motion picture soundtrack to the 2017 film T2 Trainspotting debuts at #29 on this week’s the ARIA Album Chart. T2 Trainspotting is the sequel to the 1996 film Trainspotting. The soundtrack to the first film peaked at #5 in July of 1996.

#37: Hillsong Young & Free ‘Youth Revival Acoustic’ (Debut) – Australian contemporary worship music group Hillsong Young & Free release an acoustic version of their favourite  songs from ‘Youth Revival’ which peaked at #3 in March of 2016 on the ARIA Album Chart.
