The sound of success for Missy Higgins

It’s the second week on top of the ARIA Albums Chart for Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter, while Missy Higgins makes a welcome return to the top 10 with the 20th anniversary edition of The Sound Of White.

Originally released in 2024, The Sound Of White hit #1 and stayed there for seven non-consecutive weeks, fuelled in part by the success of the lead single Scar. This week it returns to #6. Missy’s next two albums – On A Clear Night in 2007 and The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle in 2012 – also reached #1. 

In September, the beloved Aussie songwriter will return for her latest album, The Second Act. She has won nine ARIA Awards, including Album of the Year in 2005 for The Sound Of White. 

American rapper J.Cole is new at #2 with Might Delete Later. It’s his first visit to the albums chart since 2021, when The Off-Season peaked at #3. His 2018 album KOD reached #1 here. 

Conan Gray debuts at #10 with Found Heaven, his third studio album. Until now his best showing was Superache, which topped out at #8 in 2022. 

Khruangbin’s A La Sala is new at #14. The US group had its best result in 2020, when Mordechai peaked at #4. 

Melbourne-based metalcore group Alpha Wolf’s Half Living Things arrives at #19. It’s the follow-up to A Quiet Place To Die, which rose to #6 in 2020. 

Shannon Noll’s 2004 debut album That’s What I’m Talking About returns at #20 thanks to the release of a 20th anniversary edition. Currently on his first national tour in a decade, Nollsie spent four weeks at #1 with this album when it was first released. 

Australian legend Brian Cadd debuts at #40 with Dream Train, his 12th solo studio album. A former member of iconic groups such as The Groop, Axiom, The Bootleg Family Band and Flying Burrito Brothers, Cadd scored his first hit in 1965. His first solo album, Brian Cadd, peaked at #3 in 1972. He last visited the Top 50 albums chart in 1975 when The Magic Of Brian Cadd got to #34. Cadd was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007. 

It’s six weeks at #1 for Benson Boone’s Beautiful Things, as his debut album Fireworks & Rollerblades arrives at #17. His new track, Slow It Down, steps up from #35 to #24.

Irish singer Hozier’s Too Sweet jumps from #8 to #2, matching the peak of his first hit, Take Me To Church, in 2013.

British-Cypriot producer Artemas’ I Like The Way You Kiss Me climbs from #7 to #3, while his previous single If U Think I’m Pretty jumps from #64 to #37.
