Gore gives Deftones first ARIA #1

Debuts for The Lumineers, M83 and more!

Yet another new #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, with Deftones topping the chart this week with Gore (see below).

This week sees a small number of debuts but quite a few re-entries including Florence + The Machine’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful (#22), Troye Sivan’s Blue Neighbourhood (#34), Tame Impala’s Currents (#35), Mumford & Sons’ Wilder Mind (#39) and Alison Wonderland’s Run (#41).

There’s also been moves up the chart from Ed Sheeran’s X (up four to #6), Matt Corby’s Telluric (up five to #9), Essential Michael Jackson (up ten to #17), The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac (up 29 to #19), Meghan Trainor’s Title (up ten to 23) and a lot more.

Debuts:

#1: Deftones ‘Gore’ – American alt-metal band Deftones snare their first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Gore. The band’s eighth album is the follow-up to Koi No Yokan (#16 Nov. ’12). Their previous best was with White Pony (#2 Jun. ’00).

#2: The Lumineers ‘Cleopatra’ – After peaking at #7 with their self-titled debut in April 2013, American folk rock band The Lumineers return with Cleopatra. It becomes the band’s highest peak.

#11: Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals ‘Call It What It Is’ – Singer-songwriter Ben Harper reunites with The Innocent Criminals for Call It What It Is. It’s their first album together since lifeline (#7 Sept. ’07). Harper last charted with Childhood Home (#40 May ’14), a collaboration with his mother Ellen.

#12: M83 ‘Junk’ – French electronic band M83 return with Junk, their first album in five years. It’s their second appearance in the top 50 and highest peak, taking over from Hurry Up, We're Dreaming (#37 Oct. ’11).

#44: Zakk Wylde ‘Book Of Shadows II’ – Twenty years on from his first solo album Book Of Shadows, American guitar hero Zakk Wylde has gone solo again with Book Of Shadows II. It marks Wylde’s first ARIA Albums Chart appearance as a solo artist. His band, Black Label Society, last charted with Catacombs Of The Black Vatican (#31 Apr. ’14).
