Debuts for ScHoolboy Q, Biffy Clyro and more!

With their much-anticipated second album Wildflower, Melbourne’s The Avalanches have become the twelfth Australian act to top the ARIA Albums Chart in 2016.

This week’s Albums Chart includes moves for Hillsong United’s Of Dirt And Grace - Live From The Land (up four to #8 – a new peak), Play School's 50 Best Songs (up six to #17 – a new peak), The Wiggles’ The Best Of (up seven to #19) and The Avalanches’ Since I Left You (a re-entry at #25).

Debuts:

#1: The Avalanches ‘Wildflower’ – 16 years on from their highly-acclaimed debut, Since I Left You (#21 Oct. ’01), Melbourne group The Avalanches snare their first #1 on the ARIA Charts with Wildflower. Their long-awaited second album features the single ‘Frankie Sinatra’ (#34 Jun. ’16) and appearances by Danny Brown, Ariel Pink, Mercury Rev’s Jonathan Donahue and Warren Ellis, among others.

#9: ScHoolboy Q ‘Blank Face LP’ – American rapper ScHoolboy Q picks up his second top 50 appearance with fourth album Blank Face LP. The follow-up to Oxymoron (#11 Mar. ’14) includes a host of guests such as Kanye West, Tha Dogg Pound and Miguel.

#15: Biffy Clyro ‘Ellipsis’ – Album seven from Scottish band Biffy Clyro. It’s their second to hit the ARIA top 50, following on from Opposites (#22 Feb. ’13) and is their second consecutive #1 in the UK.

#34: Switchfoot ‘Where The Light Shines Through’ – With their tenth album, Where The Light Shines Through, American band Switchfoot grab a fourth top 50 placing. It comes just over two years on from Fading West (#50 Jan. ’14). The band’s highest charting album to date is Nothing Is Sound (#25 Oct. ’05).
