ARIA DJ Of The Week: Leukas

Get to know the eclectic Sydney DJ.

Music in his bones. Music in his blood. Sydney based Leukas has kept the truth behind his musical ambition, maintaining a passion worth lining up at that club for. Brought up in Sydney, music tainted the soul of this young talent, leading the ITM50 People’s Choice Artist nominee to a career within the studio and fittingly behind the decks. Grasping all things dance music with raging claws and a die-hard vengeance for sounds to drop in the within the many Dance Music circles. Weather its playing a fun, commercial/Top 40 set, a deep, melodic, driving, progressive, House/Techno set or a wild, raging EDM set, Leukas has the machine well oiled. A step back and his support of raising awareness of mental illness issues within the industry leaves him on a mission with the music and community too.

Ignited in a generation driven by the likes of Deadmau5, Eric Prydz, MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots and their associates, Leukas hasn’t taken the back seat of his career once. From his electronic inception there were never a doubt in his mind that music was his way of telling a story from one tip to the next and one harmonious achievement to another. Signing his first deal with Plasmapool Records, the city is on fire - reeling in the first label release from Leukas on ‘Telephones’ grabbing the #34 spot on the Beatport chart’s, literally showing his fellows Skrillex and Koan Sound - the breed is coming out of the woodwork and with a sure fire, versatile and diverse musical quality.

Bumping along to a solid agenda, Sydney has taken the Leukas liking from shows at Pacha, Marquee, Home Nightclub, World Bar and others, through to interstate shows around the country and the Fiji Unleashed Tour two years running. Dropping a menu of tastemaker ideal tunes and a forward thinking ideal- Leukas heaves. Supporting some of the world’s best artists, there is a bill spot for him on all accounts.

Locked away, the studio proves no boundaries keeping the Sydney sider out of the pigeonholes and on a global barrage of genre defying electronic takeover here on in.
