Tell your Aunt Louise, tell anything you please but make sure you check out the hits of October 1992.

As 1992 hit its final quarter, the likes of Girlfriend, Hoodoo Gurus, Margaret Urlich, Girlfriend, REM, Roxette and the Australian cast of Jesus Christ Superstar were holding strong on the ARIA Albums Chart.

On the Singles Chart, an American artist was boot-scooting his way to #1.

10. KWS - Please Don't Go

British electronic duo KWS scored their only Top Ten on the ARIA Singles Chart when their cover of KC & The Sunshine Band’s ‘Please Don’t Go’ peaked at #2 for four weeks between August and September 1992. KWS later charted with ‘Rock Your Baby’ (#38 Nov. ’92) and ‘Ain’t Nobody (Love Me Better)’ (#43 Oct. ’94).

9. Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back

American rapper Sir Mix-A-Lot had his only hit on the ARIA Singles Chart when ‘Baby Got Back’ peaked at #8 in August 1992. A US #1, the track was later sampled heavily on the Nicki Minaj hit ‘Anaconda’ (#8 Sept. ’14).

8. Smart E's - Sesame's Treet

The only appearance on the ARIA Singles Chart for British electronica trio Smart E’s came when ‘Sesame’s Treet’ peaked at #6 in September 1992. The track samples the theme tune to beloved children’s series Sesame Street.

7. Luther Vandross & Janet Jackson – The Best Things In Life Are Free

Featured on the soundtrack to the film Mo’ Money, ‘The Best Things In Life Are Free’ gave American R&B singer Luther Vandross his first appearance on the ARIA Singles Chart. It was Janet Jackson’s third Top Ten. Vandross took out his only other chart entry with the duet with Mariah Carey, ‘Endless Love’ (#2 Sept. ’94).

6. Bobby Brown - Humpin' Around

‘Humpin’ Around’ became Bobby Brown’s only #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart when it held the top spot for one week in September 1992. He would pick up only one more chart entry as a lead artist, hitting #39 in January 1993 with ‘Good Enough’.

5. Guns N’ Roses - November Rain

Guns N’ Roses’ fourth and final Top Ten single on the ARIA Charts was achieved when ‘November Rain’ hit #5 for five weeks between September 1992 and February 1993. The single spent 24 weeks in the Top Ten, was accredited 2x Platinum and was #2 on the 1992 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart.

4. Snap! - Rhythm Is A Dancer

German electronic group Snap! took out their highest peak on the ARIA Singles Chart when ‘Rhythm Is A Dancer’ peaked at #3 in mid-1992. Snap! previously hit the Top Ten with ‘Ooops Up’ (#4 Nov. ’90).

3. Jose Carreras & Sarah Brightman - Amigos Para Siempre

Performed during the closing ceremony of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, ‘Amigos Para Siempre’ spent six weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart between August and September 1992. It was the only chart-topping track for both Jose Carreras and Sarah Brightman.

2. Tom Cochrane - Life Is A Highway

Canadian singer-songwriter Tom Cochrane scored his biggest hit in Australia when ‘Life Is A Highway’ peaked at #2 for one week in October 1992. Cochrane took out his only other chart appearance later in 1992 with ‘No Regrets’ (#26 Nov. ’92).

1. Billy Ray Cyrus - Achy Breaky Heart

American country artist Billy Ray Cyrus had his only #1 single in Australia when ‘Acky Breaky Heart’ spent seven weeks in the top spot in October/November 1992. Taken from Cyrus’ debut album, Some Gave All (#1 Oct. ’92), the track debuted at #30 in August and hit #1 for the first time in its sixth week in the Top 50. ‘Acky Breaky Heart’ went on to be accredited 3x Platinum and land at #1 on the 1992 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart. Billy Ray Cyrus took out his only other Singles Chart Top 50 entry with ‘Could’ve Been Me’ (#43 Feb. ’93).
