Aretha Franklin set to return to the ARIA Charts

Following her passing, some of the Queen Of Soul's biggest hits look like they'll appear on this week's charts.

Aretha Franklin’s music looks set to re-appear on the ARIA Charts this week as fans around Australia remember the late, great Queen Of Soul.

On the Singles Chart, both ‘Respect’ and ‘I Say A Little Prayer’ could return to the Top 50. Both songs were hits in Australia when originally released, hitting #14 in 1967 and #8 in 1968, respectively.

A number of compilations of Franklin’s music could hit this week’s Albums Chart including the re-entering Respect - The Very Best Of, as well first time entries The Very Best Of Aretha Volume 1 – The '60s, 30 Greatest Hits, Together - The Very Best Of Aretha Franklin & Otis Redding, The Queen Of Soul: The Atlantic Recordings, Original Album Series, Best Of Aretha Franklin and A Brand New Me: Aretha Franklin (With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra).

During the ARIA era (1983-present), Franklin scored her biggest hit singles in Australia with ‘Freeway Of Love’ (#6 Sept. ’85), the Eurythmics collaboration ‘Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves’ (#15 Dec. ’85) and the duet with the late George Michael, ‘I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)’ (#1 Mar. ’87).

Her most recent Top 50 Albums Chart appearance was with Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics (#30 Nov. ’14).
