Eighth week at #1 for the A Star Is Born soundtrack

It’s week eight at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for the soundtrack to A Star Is Born. It joins the soundtrack to The Greatest Showman (#1 Jan. ’18) as the album with the longest run at #1 in 2018. This week, the film received five Golden Globe nominations, including Best Actress for Lady Gaga, Best Actor for Bradley Cooper and Best Original Song for ‘Shallow’ (#1 Oct. ’18).
 
As it hits its 50th week in the Top Ten Christmas by Michael Bublé moves up two spots to #3.
 
At #10, John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John’s Friends For Christmas jumps up three to land back in the Top Ten for a 14th week,
 
In its seventh week in the Top 50 David Campbell’s festive release, Baby It’s Christmas jumps up six spots to claim a new peak at #12.
 
There are five other Christmas albums in this week’s chart: Human Nature’s The Christmas Album (#13),  Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas (#14), Mark Vincent’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year (#16), Samantha Jade’s The Magic Of Christmas (#26) and Elvis Presley’s Christmas With Elvis And The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (#35).
 
Shawn Mendes’ self-titled third album jumps up from #47 to #32.
 
Currently on an Australian tour, Twenty One Pilots return to the chart at #39 with former #1 Trench.

#8: XXXTentacion ‘Skins’ – XXXTentacion takes out a second Albums Chart entry for 2018 with Skins. The posthumous release comes six months on from the rapper’s death in June 2018. In March, he released his second album ? (#2 Jul. ’18). Skins includes the single ‘Bad’ (#31 Nov. ’18) as well as contributions from Kanye West and Blink-182’s Travis Barker.
 
#18: Coldplay ‘Live In Buenos Aires’ – Coldplay score their first new entry in the Top 50 since 2015 with Live In Buenos Aires. Recorded on the last date of their world tour in support of A Head Full Of Dreams (#2 Dec. ’15), it’s the British band’s second live album to chart following Coldplay Live 2003 (#16 Nov. ’03).
 
#29: The Carpenters ‘Carpenters With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’ – Classic tracks by The Carpenters get re-imagined on Carpenters With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The album includes original vocal and instrumental tracks accompanied by new orchestral arrangements on songs including ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’, ‘Top Of The World’, ‘Superstar’, ‘(They Long To Be) Close To You’ and more. It’s the first time a Carpenters release has charted since The Ultimate Collection (#41 Mar. ’07).
 
#49: Van Morrison ‘The Prophet Speaks’ – The legendary Van Morrison releases his 40th studio album, The Prophet Speaks. The album is Morrison’s second album for 2018, having released You’re Driving Me Crazy in April. His most recent Top 50 entry was with Versatile (#31 Dec. ’17).
