Bernard Fanning - Tea & Sympathy

Powderfinger front man Bernard Fanning scored the first of his two solo #1s to date on the ARIA Albums Chart when Tea & Sympathy topped the chart for one week in October 2005. Fanning’s debut solo album debuted at #1 before going on to spend 22 weeks in the Top Ten and 58 weeks in the Top 50.

Tea & Sympathy was accredited 5x Platinum and landed at #24 on the 2005 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart. One single from the album charted: ‘Watch Over Me’ (#16 Jul. ’06).
Bernard Fanning won four ARIA Awards at the 2006 ceremony including Album Of The Year and Best Male Artist.

He later topped the Albums Chart with Departures (#1 Jun. ’13) and charted more recently with Brutal Dawn (#2 Jun. ’17).

Single

Kanye West - Gold Digger

American rapper/producer Kanye West took out his first #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart when ‘Gold Digger’ spent three weeks in the top spot in October/November 2005. Taken from the album Late Registration (#14 Apr. ’06) and featuring vocals by actor/musician Jamie Foxx, ‘Gold Digger’ debuted at #2 before hitting #1 in its second week in the Top 50. In total, the single spent nine weeks in the Top Ten and 14 weeks in the Top 50.

‘Gold Digger’ hit #33 on the 2005 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart. It was accredited 4x Platinum.
Kanye West’s only other #1 to date on the Singles Chart was the collaboration with Rihanna and Paul McCartney, ‘FourFiveSeconds’ (#1 Feb. ’15).

In June 2018 West debuted at #1 on the Albums Chart with ye. All seven of the album’s tracks charted in the top 50: ‘All Mine’ (#12), ‘Yikes’ (#18), ‘Ghost Town’ (#22), ‘Wouldn’t Leave’ (#33), ‘Violent Crimes’ (#40), ‘I Thought About Killing You’ (#41) and ‘No Mistakes’ (#46).
