Debuts for Carrie Underwood, 6lack, David Guetta and more!

For the third consecutive week, Eminem sits at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Kamikaze. Of the rapper’s nine #1 albums, only two have spent more weeks at #1: The Eminem Show (#1 Jun. ’02 – seven weeks) and Recovery (#1 Jun. ’10 – nine weeks).

As he wraps up his national tour in support of it, Vance Joy moves up seven spots with former #1 Nation Of Two. The Melbourne singer-songwriter’s debut, Dream Your Life Away, is at #36 this week.

With her two month Australian tour coming to a close, P!nk jumps back into the Top 20 at #19 with Beautiful Trauma. The compilation Greatest Hits…So Far!!! is at #29 this week.

#4: Carrie Underwood ‘Cry Pretty’ – American country star Carrie Underwood takes out a third Top Ten and third #4 peak on the ARIA Albums Chart with Cry Pretty. Underwood’s sixth studio album comes three years on from Storyteller (#4 Nov. ’15). The bonus track ‘Champion’ features a collaboration with rapper Ludacris. Underwood first hit the Top Ten with Blown Away (#4 May ’12).

#6: 6lack ‘East Atlanta Love Letter’ – With his second album, Atlanta singer-songwriter/rapper 6lack makes his debut appearance on the ARIA Albums Chart. East Atlanta Love Letter is the follow-up to 2016’s Free 6lack and includes collaborations with Future, J. Cole, Migos’ Offset and Khalid. 6lack and Khalid previously hit the Singles Chart together, along with Ty Dolla $ign, with ‘OTW’ (#27 Jun. ’18).

#9: David Guetta ‘7’ – David Guetta releases 7, his first album in four years. The French producer’s first album since Listen (#11 Dec. ’14) features the singles ‘2U’ (#2 Jun. ’17), ‘Dirty Sexy Money’ (#18 Jan. ’18), ‘Flames’ (#19 May ’18), Don’t Leave Me Alone’ (#43 Aug. ’18) and ‘Goodbye’ (#36 Sept. ’18). There are appearances by a plethora of guests including Sia, Anne-Marie, Bebe Rexha, Jason Derulo, Justin Bieber and Jess Glynne. It’s Guetta’s first Top Ten album since Nothing But The Beat (#3 Sept. ’11).

#20 Billie Eilish ‘Don’t Smile At Me’ – American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish makes her ARIA Albums Chart debut with EP Don’t Smile At Me. The nine-track release came out in August 2017. Eilish has previously appeared on the Singles Chart with ‘Lovely’ (#5 Jul. ’18) and ‘You Should See Me In A Crown’ (#47 Aug. ’18), neither of which appear on the EP.

#24: Good Charlotte ‘Generation Rx’ – Good Charlotte return with their seventh studio album, Generation Rx. The album is the follow-up to #1 Youth Authority (#1 Jul. ’16). Sam Carter of British metalcore band Architects makes an appearance on the track ‘Leech’.

#28: Jungle ‘Forever’ – British soul group Jungle return with For Ever. The London act’s second album comes four years on from their self-titled debut (#20 Jul. ’14).

#32: Tony Bennett & Diana Krall ‘Love Is Here To Stay’ – Acclaimed Jazz artists Tony Bennett and Diana Krall team up for Love Is Here To Stay. All of the tracks on the album were composed by George Gershwin, with lyrics on more than half being by his brother Ira. Tony Bennett last charted with the collaboration with Lady Gaga, Cheek To Cheek (#7 Sept. ’14), while Krall charted last year with Turn Up The Quiet (#37 May ’17).

#42: DREAMS ‘No One Defeats Us’ – Australian supergroup DREAMS make their ARIA Charts debut with debut album No One Defeats Us. The duo consists of Daniel Johns (Silverchair, The Dissociatives) and Luke Steele (The Sleepy Jackson, Empire Of The Sun). Johns last appeared on the chart with his debut solo album, Talk (#2 Jun. ’15). Steele’s last appearances was with the Empire Of The Sun album Two Vines (#7 Nov. ’16).
