Dance Monkey gives Tones And I six weeks at #1

Moves for Miley Cyrus, 5 Seconds Of Summer and more!

Tones And I holds #1 for a sixth consecutive week on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Dance Monkey’. The single moves into equal second for most weeks a #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart by an Australian female solo artist, joining Kylie Minogue’s ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ (#1 Mar. ’88) and Merril Bainbridge’s ‘Mouth’ (#1 May ’95). If ‘Dance Monkey’ continues to top next week, it will equal Kylie Minogue’s ‘Locomotion’ (#1 Aug. ’87), who holds the record with seven weeks. The track has also reached number 1 in several markets around the world, including Norway, Sweden, Finland and Ireland.
 
In its third week in the Top 50, Miley Cyrus’ ‘Slide Away’ continues its climb up the chart. This week, it’s up three spots to a new peak of #15.
 
After debuting at #30 last week, 5 Second Of Summer’s new single ‘Teeth’ has jumped up 13 spots to hit #17 this week. As well as featuring guitar work by Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, the track gives writing credits to the members of iconic Manchester band New Order.
 
Normani’s ‘Motivation’ climbs seven spots to hit #28 in its third week in the Top 50. The track was co-written by, among others, Ariana Grande and legendary Swedish songwriter/producer Max Martin.

#5: Post Malone ‘Circles’ – Post Malone takes out his ninth Top Ten entry on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Circles’. The track was released at the same time the American hip hop artist announced his third album, Hollywood’s Bleeding (which was released on 6 September). It’s the fourth track from the album to chart after ‘Sunflower’ (#1 Jan. ’19), ‘Wow.’ (#5 Jul. ’19) and ‘Goodbyes’ (#5 Jul. ’19).
 
#32: Lizzo ‘Good As Hell’ – American star Lizzo scores her second Singles Chart entry with ‘Good As Hell’. Like ‘Truth Hurts’ (#18 Jul. ’19), it’s an older track by the singer-songwriter, having first been released in 2016 on the EP Coconut Oil. ‘Good As Hell’ has recently gained traction after being performed by Lizzo at the MTV Video Music Awards.
 
#49: Jonas Brothers ‘Only Human’ – The Jonas Brothers notch up their second Singles Chart Top 50 entry from Happiness Begins (#3 Jun. ’19) with ‘Only Human’. It hits the chart six months after the group made their return with ‘Sucker’ (#1 Mar. ’19).
