Harry Styles Debuts at #1 with Fine Line

Second chart-topper for UK star.

Harry Styles' Fine Line debuts at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart this week, making him the most successful member of One Direction on the Australian charts.

Further down the Top 50 this week, perennial favourite Christmas by Michael Buble holds steady at #3. The album has landed in the Top Ten each festive season since it debuted in December 2011. It spent time at #1 in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017. With time almost running out, it remains to be seen if it will hit the top again for 2019.

Movers this week include Rod Stewart & The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's You're In My Heart, which rises five places to #7; Jessica Mauboy's HILDA, which jumps 10 spots to #22; Tool's Fear Inoculum, which re-enters the chart at #24; Cold Chisel's The Best Of Cold Chisel: All For You, which leaps eight spots to #28; and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' Ghosteen, which moves up 10 places to #32.

Debuts:

#1: Harry Styles ‘Fine Line’ – Harry Styles becomes the second member of One Direction to release a second solo album, and the first to score a second solo #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. He can add it to the four #1 albums he has earned as a member of One Direction, which means he has had six #1 albums to his name in the 2010s, which is a record. Styles is faring better than his One Direction bandmates so far, including Liam Payne, whose debut solo album, LP1, entered the chart at #50 last week. Fine Line is also #1 on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

#11: Stormzy ‘Heavy Is The Head’ – British rapper and singer Stormzy, real name Michael Owuo repeats the success of his first album, Gang Signs And Prayer, which debuted at #11 in March 17 and spent two weeks on the chart. Heavy Is The Head includes the hits ‘Vossi Bop’, which peaked at #34 in June, and ‘Own It’ featuring Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy, which enters the Singles Chart at #40 this week.

#29: Furnace And The Fundamentals ‘A Very Furnace Christmas’ – Sydney covers band Furnace And The Fundamentals make their Albums Chart debut with this collection of Christmas-themed recreations of classic hits. Among the tracks on which the band puts a festive spin are Village People’s ‘YMCA’, Coolio’s ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’, Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and the retitled ‘Giving In The Name Of’, their Christmas version of Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Killing In The Name’.

#38: Pentatonix ‘The Best Of Pentatonix Christmas’ – US A cappella group Pentatonix enter the Albums Chart for the seventh time with The Best Of Pentatonix Christmas, which features collaborations with Tori Kelly, Jennifer Hudson, Maren Morris, Kelly Clarkson and the late Whitney Houston. Previous festive albums by the group to hit the Albums Chart are That’s Christmas To Me (#21 Dec. ‘14) and A Pentatonix Christmas (#16 Oct. ‘16).
