Lover lands Taylor Swift fifth #1 album

Debuts for Brockhampton, Tropical F**k Storm, Waax and more!

Releasing seventh album, Lover, American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift takes out her fifth #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Her previous albums, Reputation and 1989, are at #30 and #42 this week, respectively.
 
Thelma Plum’s Better In Blak moves up five to #40 as her national continues.
 
Debuts:
 
#1: Taylor Swift ‘Lover’ – American superstar Taylor Swift scores her fifth #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with her seventh studio album Lover. It is the single biggest week for any album in 2019. Taylor also looks likely to the be the artist with the most #1 albums this decade with 5. She has also previously hit #1 with Speak Now (#1 Nov. ’10), Red (#1 Oct. ’12), 1989 (#1 Nov. ’14) and Reputation (#1 Nov. ’17). 13 of the album’s 18 tracks are in the Top 50 of this week’s ARIA Singles Chart.
 
#3: Brockhampton ‘Ginger’ – American collective Brockhampton grab their highest charts peak with new album, Ginger. The fifth studio album by the 13-member hip-hop group becomes their second Top Ten entry after Iridescence (#6 Oct. ’18).
 
#10: Tropical F**k Storm ‘Braindrops’ – Melbourne quartet Tropical F**k Storm net their second chart appearance in as many years and their first Top Ten entry with Braindrops. Featuring Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin from The Drones, the band’s second album comes just over a year on from their debut, A Laughing Death in Meatspace (#25 May ’18). Braindrops is #1 on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart this week.
 
#11: Waax ‘Big Grief’ – Brisbane’s Waax make their chart debut with Big Grief. The quintet’s debut album was co-produced by Bernard Fanning and Nick DiDia. Prior to the album, Waax released two EPs: Holy Sick (2015) and Wild & Weak (2017).
 
#24: Winterbourne ‘Echo Of Youth’ – Australian duo Winterbourne release their debut album, Echo Of Youth. It’s the second time the act - made up of James Draper and Jordan Brady - have appeared in the ARIA Top 50: their second EP, Pendulum, peaked at #23 in June 2016.
 
#35: Dan Mullins ‘Duende’ – Dan Mullins hits the ARIA Top 50 debut with Duende. It’s the debut album by the Sydney singer-songwriter, who is also a radio producer and podcaster.
 
#36: Young Thug ‘So Much Fun’ – Releasing his debut studio album, So Much Fun, American rapper Young Thug makes his first solo appearance on the Albums Chart. Featuring the single ‘The London’ (#13 Jun. ’19), Young Thug’s first proper album comes after years of releasing mixtapes and EPs. He previously charted with one mixtape, Super Slimey (#35 Oct. ’17), a collaboration with Future.
 
#49: Knocked Loose ‘A Different Shade Of Blue’ – American hardcore punk band Knocked Loose hit the Top 50 for the first time with Different Shade Of Blue. The band’s second album comes two years on from their debut, 2017’s Laugh Tracks.
