Luke Combs Debuts At #1

Country star scores first chart-topper!

US country singer Luke Combs scores his first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with What You See Is What You Get (more below).

Buoyed by a physical release, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ 17th studio album ‘Ghosteen’ returns at #2 after disappearing from the Albums Chart in the four weeks since it debuted at #7. This is now the band’s ninth album to reach the Top 5. It’s also #1 on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

Debuts:

#1: Luke Combs ‘What You See Is What You Get’ – The second album from Luke Combs enters the chart at #1, unlike his debut, This One’s For You, which took a full year and one day to reach a peak of #7 in March 2019. Combs’ latest effort features collaborations with country superstars Eric Church and Brooks & Dunn.

#7: George Michael & WHAM! ‘Last Christmas - The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’ – The late George Michael returns to the Top 50 with a collection of songs spanning his career as a solo artist and as half of pop duo WHAM!, plus previously unreleased solo track ‘This Is How (We Want You To Get High)’. Michael’s first posthumous release to enter the chart, this festive movie soundtrack follows the last LP released during his lifetime, live album Symphonica (#11 Mar. ‘14).

#8. Six60 ‘Six60 (3)’ – Having achieved unprecedented success in their home country of New Zealand, Six60 are seeing their appeal cross the ditch as they score their first entry in the Top 50 Albums Chart with their third studio album, Six60 (3).

#11: The Script ‘Sunsets & Full Moons’ – Irish rockers The Script score their sixth Top 10 with their sixth studio album, Sunsets & Full Moons. The nine-track album is billed as a sequel to the band’s self-titled debut, which peaked at #9 in June 2009, as both albums were recorded in times of trauma for singer-songwriter Danny O’Donoghue; both of his parents died on Valentine’s Day ten years apart.

#22: FKA Twigs ‘Magdalene’ – English singer-songwriter FKA Twigs scores her second Top 50 entry with Magdalene, her follow up to the widely acclaimed LP1 (#30 Feb. ‘15). Twigs teamed up with a range of producers including Nicolas Jaar, Koreless, Skrillex, Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat and Noah Goldstein on her latest album, which deals with themes of heartbreak and hope.

#30: Doja Cat ‘Hot Pink’ – A year after finding fame with her single ‘Mooo!’, Doja Cat debuts on the ARIA Albums Chart with ‘Hot Pink’. The American rapper and singer’s second album features collaborations with Gucci Mane, Tyga and Smino, as well as a sample of Blink-182’s ‘What’s My Age Again’.
