STing - The Dream Of The Blue Turtles

The debut solo album from Police front man Sting spent three consecutive weeks at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart in April/May 1986. Released in June 1985, The Dream Of The Blue Turtles debuted at #10 and spent the remainder of the year in the Top 50. In the early part of 1986, the album began its climb to the top of the chart and reached the peak on the 17th chart of the year.

The Dream Of The Blue Turtles includes the singles ‘If You Love Somebody Set Them Free’ (#18 Jul. ’85) and ‘Russians’ (#11 May ’86). The album was #7 on the 1986 End Of Year Albums Chart.

Sting next charted with …Nothing Like the Sun (#5 Dec. ’87). His last appearance on the ARIA Albums Chart was with his collaboration with Shaggy, 44/876 (#38 Apr. ’18).

Diana Ross - ChAin Reaction

Diana Ross’ only #1 single on the ARIA Charts came when ‘Chain Reaction’ spent three weeks in the top spot in April/May 1986. Taken from the album Eaten Alive (#11 Jun. ’86), the track was written by Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees. It debuted at #33 in March 1986 and hit the #1 spot for the first time in its fifth week in the Top 50. In total, ‘Chain Reaction’ spent 13 weeks in the Top Ten.

‘Chain Reaction’ was #1 on the 1986 End Of Year Singles Chart.

Diana Ross previously topped the pre-ARIA Singles Chart in Australia with ‘Upside Down’ (1980) and the Lionel Richie duet ‘Endless Love’ (1981).
