ALBUM

Ian Moss - Matchbook

The debut solo album for Cold Chisel’s Ian Moss spent three straight weeks at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart in August/September 1989. Matchbook spent its first three weeks in the chart at #1 before going on to spend 13 weeks in the Top Ten and 28 weeks in the Top 50.
Matchbook generated the singles ‘Tucker’s Daughter’ (#2 Feb. ’89), ‘Telephone Booth’ (#7 Aug. ’89) and ‘Out Of The Fire’ (#29 Oct. ’89). The album was accredited 2x Platinum. It went on to sit at #22 on the 1989 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart.

Ian Moss won five ARIA awards in 1990 including Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Male Artist.

Matchbook was followed by Worlds Away (#42 Nov. ’91). Ian Moss last charted with his self-titled seventh album (#11 Mar. ’18).

New Kids On The Block - You Got It (The Right Stuff)

With their debut entry on the ARIA Singles Chart, American boyband New Kids On The Block scored their first and only #1. ‘You Got It (The Right Stuff)’ spent three weeks in the top spot in August 1989. After debuting in the Top 50 in early June, the track hit #1 for the first time in its eleventh week on the chart.

Taken from the album Hangin’ Tough (#7 Nov. ’89) ‘You Got It (The Right Stuff)’ spent 23 weeks in the Top 50 and ten weeks in the Top Ten. The single was #8 on the 1989 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart and was accredited 2x Platinum.

New Kids On The Block would score three more Top Ten hit singles: ‘I’ll Be Loving You (Forever)’ (#4 Sept. ’89), ‘Hangin’ Tough’ (#8 Nov. ’89) and ‘Step By Step’ (#8 Jun. ’90).
