Michael Bolton - Soul Provider

The sixth studio album from American crooner Michael Bolton became his first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart when it spent three weeks in the top spot in mid-1990. The follow-up to The Hunger (#36 Jul. ‘88), Soul Provider debuted at #38 in February 1990. It steadily climbed up the chart before hitting #1 for the first time in its eleventh week in the Top 50. After a week back at #2, it returned to #1 for two weeks. In total, Soul Provider spent 15 weeks in the Top Ten and 28 weeks in the Top 50.

Singles released from Soul Provider include ‘How Am I Supposed To Live Without You’ (#2 Mar. ’90) and ‘How Can We Be Lovers’ (#3 May ’90).

Soul Provider was accredited 2x Platinum. It was #10 on the ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart in 1990.

Michael Bolton next charted with the album Time Love And Tenderness (#11 Aug. ’92). He scored his second #1 album with ninth album The One Thing (#1 Mar. ’94). More recently, he charted with Gems: The Duets Collection (#26 Apr. ’12).

Madonna - Vogue/Keep It Together

Madonna’s sixth Australian #1 single came when the double A-side ‘Vogue’/’Keep it Together’ spent five straight weeks at the top of the ARIA Charts in May/June 1990. The single debuted at #19 before topping the chart in its second week in the top 50. ‘Vogue’ was lifted from the album I'm Breathless: Music from and Inspired by the film Dick Tracy (#1 May ’90), while ’Keep it Together’ came from the superstar’s previous album Like A Prayer (#4 Feb. ’89). The single spent nine weeks in the top ten and 21 weeks in the top 50.

Receiving an accreditation of 2x Platinum, ‘Vogue’/’Keep it Together’ was #3 on the 1990 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart.

Madonna has topped the ARIA Singles Chart with nine other singles: ‘Like A Virgin’ (#1 Dec. ‘84), ‘Angel’/‘Into The Groove’ (#1 Jun. ’85), ‘Crazy For You’ (#1 Jul. ‘85), ‘Papa Don’t Preach’ (#1 Aug. ‘86), ‘Like A Prayer’ (#1 Mar. ‘89), ‘American Pie’ (#1 Mar. ‘00), ‘Music’ (#1 Aug. ‘00), ‘Hung Up’ (#1 Nov. ‘05) and 4 Minutes (#1 Apr. ‘08). She holds the record for the most weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Charts, with 38 weeks. Her ten #1 singles puts her equal with Kylie Minogue for most #1 singles on the ARIA Charts.
