Can Delta and The Veronicas stay at #1?

July 13, 2016

Contenders include The Avalanches, ScHoolboy Q and Biffy Clyro.

For the first time since 2004, we saw an all-Australian female double at the top of last week’s ARIA Charts, with Delta Goodrem scoring her fourth #1 album with Wings Of The Wild and The Veronicas picking up a third Singles Chat #1 with ‘In My Blood’.

Who’s likely to challenge for the spots on this week’s ARIA Charts?

Here are some of the titles that could debut or make a move on this week’s charts.

After a rather lengthy time between albums (16 years), Melbourne act The Avalanches return with their long-awaited second album Wildflower; American rapper ScHoolboy Q could pick up his second top 50 appearance on the back of fourth album Blank Face LP; seventh album Ellipsis could give Scottish band Biffy Clyro a second top 50 entry; American band Switchfoot could grab a sixth top 50 with tenth album Where The Light Shines Through; after two weeks in the top 100, the soundtrack to Love Child Season 3 could break into the top 50 for the first time; Take Her Up To Monto, the fourth studio album from Roisin Murphy, could give the former Moloko singer her first top 50 appearance.

Look out for moves up the Albums Chart this week from Play School’s 50 Best Songs, The Wiggles’ The Best Of and The Avalanches’ Since I Left You.

Anne-Marie could grab a second Singles Chart entry with the follow-up to ‘Do It Right’ (#22 May ’16), ‘Alarm’; American producer DJ Mustard could jump into the top 50 for the first time with the Nicki Minaj and Jeremih collaboration ‘Don't Hurt Me’; Melbourne rapper Illy could make his first top 50 apperance since 2014 with ‘Papercuts’; Good Charlotte could chart for the first time since 2011 with ‘Life Can't Get Much Better’.

Tracks that could jump up the chart this week include Shawn Mendes ‘Treat You Better’, Little Mix’s ‘Hair’, Delta Goodrem’s ‘Enough’ and Usher’s ‘Crash’.

The weekly ARIA Charts announcement happens every Saturday at 6pm.
