Check out what was #1 on the ARIA Charts 27 years ago!

Jive Bunny & The Mixmasters - The ALbum

Jive Bunny & The Mastermixers was the brainchild of a collective of British DJs/producers. They used sampling and synthesizers to combine older pop music into medleys. After debuting at #22 at the start of December, The Album hit #1 in its second week in the top 50 and went on to spend four straight weeks at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart.

The Album featured the singles ‘Swing The Mood’ (#1 Oct. ’89) and ‘That’s What I Like’ (#4 Nov. ’89). It was accredited 4x Platinum.

The only other Jive Bunny & The Mastermixers album to feature on the ARIA Charts has been It's Party Time (#12 Jan. ’91).

The b52's - Love Shack

The only #1 single on the ARIA Charts for American band The B-52's came when ‘Love Shack’ spent eight consecutive weeks at the summit between Dec. ’89 and Feb. ’90. The second single released from Cosmic Thing (#1 Jan. ’90), the fifth studio album by the band, ‘Love Shack’ debuted at #27 in November 1989. It hit #1 for the first time in its fifth week in the top 50.

In total, ‘Love Shack’ spent 13 weeks in the top ten and 23 weeks in the top 50. It was #10 on the 1990 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart and was accredited 2x Platinum.

The B-52's followed ‘Love Shack’ up with ‘Roam’ (#11 Mar. ’90); their only other ARIA top 50 appearance.
