Noiseworks - Love Versus Money

Sydney band Noiseworks achieved their only #1 on the ARIA Charts when their third studio album spent one week at the top of the Albums Chart in July 1991. The follow-up to Touch (#5 Nov. ’88) debuted at #1 before spending a total of six weeks in the top ten and 15 weeks in the top 50.

Singles released from Love Versus Money include ‘Freedom’ (#30 Jun. ’90), ‘Miles And Miles’ (#26 Dec. ’90), ‘Hot Chilli Woman’ (#7 Jul. ’91) and ‘R.I.P. (Millie)’ (#26 Oct. ’91).

Love Versus Money was #42 on the 1991 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart and received a Platinum accreditation.

Noiseworks last charted in the top 50 with The Greatest Hits (#4 Oct. ’92). They split in 1992 but have since reunited a number of times.


Melissa - Read My Lips

The debut single from E Street star turned singer Melissa Tkautz became her first (and to date only) #1 on the ARIA Charts when it spent two consecutive weeks in the top spot in July 1991. The first single released from Tkautz’ debut album Fresh (#15 Jun. ’92), ‘Read My Lips’ debuted at #41 in June. It was #1 for the first time in its sixth week in the top 50.

In total, ‘Read My Lips’ spent 11 weeks in the top ten 18 weeks in the top 50. It was accredited Platinum and was #6 on the 1991 ARIA End OF Year Singles Chart.

Melissa Tkautz hit #3 with follow-up single ‘Sexy (Is The Word)’ (#3 Sept. ’91). She’s made three other appearances in the top 50 appearances: ‘Skin To Skin’ (#16 May ’92), ‘Is It…?’ (#39 Jul. ’93) and ‘The Glamorous Life’ (#31 Sept. ’05).
