Debuts for King Gizzard & The Lizard, Imagine Dragons, DJ Khaled and more!

After dropping to #2 last week, Ed Sheeran’s third album ÷ returns to #1 this week. It’s the albums 14th week in the top spot.

Re-entering the chart this week on the back of a deluxe reissue to mark twenty years since its release Radiohead’s landmark third album OK Computer scores a new peak at #6. When it came out in 1997, the album debuted and peaked at #7.

Also making a reappearance on the chart on the back of a 20th anniversary reissue is Lismore band Grinspoon’s debut album, Guide To Better Living. Hitting the chart this week at #8, it overtakes its debut and previous peak position of #11.

The long-awaited deluxe reissue of Prince & The Revolution’s Purple Rain has placed the former #1 at #13 on this week’s chart.

Following the DVD/Blu-ray release of the film, the soundtrack to the live action version of Beauty And The Beast has moved up 24 spots to #14.

With tickets to his December tour going on sale, The Weeknd’s Starboy is back up seven spots to #28.


#3: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard ‘Murder Of The Universe’ – Releasing the second of their planned five album releases in 2017, Melbourne’s King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard pick up the week’s highest debut with Murder Of The Universe. The band’s tenth studio album comes four months on from Flying Microtonal Banana (#2 Mar. ’17) and is their second top ten appearance on the ARIA Charts.

#4: Imagine Dragons ‘Evolve’ – With their third studio album American band Imagine Dragons score their third peak at #4 on the ARIA Charts. Evolve comes just over two years on from Smoke + Mirrors (#4 Feb. ’15) and includes the singles ‘Believer’ (#33 Feb. ’17) and ‘Thunder’ (#19 Jun. ’17). The band first hit the chart with Night Visions (#4 Aug. ’13).

#7: DJ Khaled ‘Grateful’ – A year on from Major Key (#6 Aug. ’16) DJ Khaled scores a second top ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart with Grateful. The American producer’s tenth studio album includes the singles ‘I’m The One’ (#1 May ’17) and ‘Wild Thoughts’ (#2 Jul. ’17) as well as a long list of featured artists including Justin Bieber, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, Chance The Rapper, Rihanna, Drake and more.

#17: Vince Staples ‘Big Fish Theory’ – The second studio album from Vince Staples gives the American rapper his second appearance in the ARIA top 50. The release of Big Fish Theory comes nine months on from the EP Prima Donna (#35 Sept. ’16). The album includes production work from Flume and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, among others.

#42: Khalid ‘American Teen’ – Released in March, the debut album from R&B artist Khalid has been sitting in the lower half of the top 100 for seven weeks. This week it makes its top 50 debut as the single ‘Location’ hits the top 50 on the Singles Chart for the first time at #43.
