Bon Jovi - SLippery WHen Wet

Bon Jovi’s third studio album gave the New Jersey band their first #1 album in Australia when it spent six weeks at the top in July/August 1987. Slippery When Wet debuted at #38 in November 1986, spending six weeks in the top 50 at the end of 1986 before dropping out. It re-entered the chart at #30 in March 1987 and hit #1 for the first time in early-July, in its 26th week in the top 50.

Slippery When Wet featured the singles ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’ (#32 Mar. ’87), ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ (#4 May ’87), ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive’ (#13 Jul. ’87) and ‘Never Say Goodbye’ (#26 Sept. ’87). It went on to hit #3 on the 1987 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart and was accredited 6x Platinum.

Bon Jovi have gone on to top the ARIA Albums chart a further nine times, reaching #1 with New Jersey (#1 Oct. ’88), Keep The Faith (#1 Nov. ’92), Cross Road (#1 Oct. ’94), These Days (#1 Jul. ’95), Crush (#1 Jun. ’00), Have A Nice Day (#1 Sept. ’05) Bon Jovi Greatest Hits (#1 Nov. ’10), What About Now (#1 Mar. ’13) and their most recent studio release, This House Is Not For Sale (#1 Nov. ’16).


Kylie Minogue - Locomotion

The first of Kylie Minogue’s ten singles to hit #1 on the ARIA Charts, ‘Locomotion’ spent seven consecutive weeks in the top spot in August/September 1987. Debuting at #10 in the first week of August 1987, the single reached #1 for the first time in its third week in the top 50. ‘Locomotion’ went on to spend 16 weeks in the top ten and 27 weeks in the top 50.

A re-recorded version of the track later appeared on Minogue’s debut album Kylie (#2 Jul. ’88). The album spawned two further #1 singles: ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ (#1 Mar. ‘88) and ‘Got To Be Certain’ (#1 Jul. ‘88). ‘Locomotion’ topped the ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart in 1987 and was accredited Platinum.

Kylie Minogue’s has also hit #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Confide In Me’ (#1 Sept. ‘94), ‘Spinning Around’ (#1 Jun. ‘00), ‘On A Night Like This’ (#1 Sept. ‘00), ‘Can't Get You Out Of My Head’ (#1 Sept. ‘01), ‘In Your Eyes’ (#1 Jan. ‘02), ‘Slow’ (#1 Nov. ‘03) and ‘2 Hearts’ (#1 Nov. ‘07).

Composed by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, ‘Locomotion’ was originally released by Little Eva in 1962 and has been recorded by a host of other artists including Grand Funk Railroad, Ringo Starr, Atomic Kitten, The Chiffons and La Toya Jackson.
