Released in September 1991, the debut album from Perth band Baby Animals debuted at #6 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It was in the album’s 21st week on the chart that it first hit the #1 spot, going on to spend six consecutive weeks there. Baby Animals featured the singles ‘Early Warning’ (#21 Jun. ’91), ‘Rush You’ (#30 Sept. ’91), ‘Painless’ (#49 Nov. ’91) and ‘One Word’ (#15 Feb. ’92). Baby Animals spent 22 weeks in the top ten and 48 weeks in the top 50.

The band won the Breakthrough Artist – Album, Breakthrough Artist - Single and Album Of The Year awards at the 1992 ARIAs. The album was #2 on the 1992 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart and has since been accredited 4x Platinum.

Baby Animals released one more albums, Shaved And Dangerous (#2 Sept. ’93) before splitting in 1996. They reformed in 2007, releasing a new studio album, This Is Not The End (#19 Jun. ’13) in 2013.


Julian Lennon - Saltwater

The first single from Julian Lennon’s fourth album Help Yourself (#5 Mar. ’92) was the singer-songwriter’s first, and to date only, #1 on the ARIA Charts. ‘Saltwater’ spent four consecutive weeks at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart in March 1992. The track debuted at #41 in December 1991 and hit #1 for the first time in its thirteenth week in the top 50. ‘Saltwater’ spent a total of 13 weeks in the top ten and 20 weeks in the top 50.

It was #14 on the 1992 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart and has received a Platinum accreditation.

Prior to the success of ’Saltwater’, Lennon hit the ARIA Singles Chart top 50 with ‘Too Late For Goodbyes’ (#13 Dec. ‘84), ‘Say You’re Wrong’ (#31 Jun. ‘85) and ‘Now You’re In Heaven’ (#5 May ’89). He also charted with the follow-up single ‘Help Yourself’ (#30 Apr. ’92).

Lennon’s most recent studio album was 2011’s Everything Changes.
