U2 - U218Singles

Irish rockers U2 spent two weeks at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in late-2006 with U218 Singles. The singles compilation was the band’s third retrospective to top the ARIA Charts, following on from The Best Of 1980 – 1990 (#1 Nov. ‘98) and The Best Of 1990 – 2000 (#1 Nov. ‘02).

After spending its first two weeks at #1, U218 Singles spent 11 weeks in the top ten and 24 weeks in the top 50. It was accredited 5x Platinum and hit #12 on the 2006 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart.

Two singles were released from the album: the Green Day collaboration ‘The Saints Are Coming’ (#1 Nov. ’06) and ‘Window In The Skies’ (#17 Jan. ’07).

U2 have also topped the ARIA Albums Chart with The Unforgettable Fire (#1 Oct. ’84), Rattle And Hum (#1 Oct. ‘88), Achtung Baby (#1 Dec. ‘91), Zooropa (#1 Jul. ‘93), Pop (#1 Mar. ‘97), All That You Can't Leave Behind (#1 Nov. ‘00), How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (#1 Nov. ‘04) and No Line On The Horizon (#1 Mar. ‘09). Along with Madonna and Jimmy Barnes, they hold the record for most #1 albums on the ARIA Charts with 11.

The band’s most recent album, Songs Of Innocence, debuted at #7 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It was their first album release since The Joshua Tree (#3 Mar. ‘87) to not top the ARIA Albums Chart.

Damien Leith - Night Of My Life

The only chart-topping single for Irish-Australian singer–songwriter & the 2006 Australian Idol winner Damien Leith came when ‘Night Of My Life’ spent four weeks at #1 in December 2006. Taken from the #1 album ‘The Winner’s Journey (#1 Dec. ’06) which features remastered versions of Leith's live performances from the show, along with a few new studio recordings.

Leith’s only other top 50 appearance to date on the ARIA Singles Chart was with the single ’22 Steps’ which peaked at #11 in July of 2007.
