ARIA DJ Of The Week: Tim Light

Get to know the Melbourne DJ/producer.

Immediately embedding himself into the Australian underground dance music ecosystem, it’s hard to believe 24 year old Melbournian Tim Light, only landed his debut release a mere 10 months ago!!! Having always been involved in music as a youngster, Tim spent 9 years playing the violin before starting to DJ at age 16 and getting hooked on production a few years later.

Tim’s “Slapdash” EP was released in April 2017, peaking at number 16 on the ARIA Club Chart followed by “Walking On Clouds” in September, both on Valiant Records. From there remixes for Vandalism (Shiny Disco Balls), Rory Marshall (Oona) and label boss Tom Evans (Like That), and another original EP “Dance For Me” on Jump To This saw support from the likes of Claptone, Roger Sanchez, Oliver Helden, Joseph Capriati and more for both his remixes and Originals.

It’s fair to say 2017 was a fantastic start to Tim’s career as a producer, but already this year is taking things to the next level. Vicious Black released his “Rewind” track on February 9th and further releases with Valiant Records are already scheduled, including collaboration with label boss, Tom Evans. Add to that remixes for Husky’s forthcoming single “Lost Without U” on Vicious Recordings and you can see why Tim Light is going to be a name that is hard to avoid and well worth checking out in 2018!
