Soundtrack - Dirty Dancing

The soundtrack to the hit film Dirty Dancing dominated the ARIA Albums Chart in the first half of 1988, spending eight straight weeks at #1. Debuting at #32 in mid-January 1998, the album hit #1 for the first time in its fifth week in the chart. Dirty Dancing spent a total of 21 weeks in the top ten and 52 weeks in the top 50 during its original run.

Three singles from the album charted in the top ten: ‘(I've Had) The Time of My Life’ by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes) (#1 Feb. '88), ‘Hungry Eyes’ by Eric Carmen (#4 Apr. '88) and ‘She's Like the Wind’ (Patrick Swayze) (#6 May '88).

Accredited 11x Platinum, the Dirty Dancing soundtrack was #2 on the 1988 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart.

The album hit the top ten again for three weeks in September 2005.

Kylie Minogue - I Should Be So Lucky

The second of Kylie Minogue’s ten #1s to date on the ARIA Singles Chart came when ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ spent six consecutive weeks at #1 in March/April 1988. Debuting at #10 in mid-February, the single hit #1 for the first time in its fifth week in the chart. ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ went on to spend 13 weeks in the top ten and 16 weeks in the top 50.

Hitting #5 on the 1988 ARIA Singles Chart, ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ received a Platinum accreditation. The track was later includes on Minogue’s debut album Kylie (#2 Jul. ’88).

Kylie Minogue has also hit #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Locomotion’ (#1 Aug. ‘87), ‘Got To Be Certain’ (#1 Jul. ‘88), ‘Confide In Me’ (#1 Sept. ‘94), ‘Spinning Around’ (#1 Jun. ‘00), ‘On A Night Like This’ (#1 Sept. ‘00), ‘Can't Get You Out Of My Head’ (#1 Sept. ‘01), ‘In Your Eyes’ (#1 Jan. ‘02), ‘Slow’ (#1 Nov. ‘03) and ‘2 Hearts’ (#1 Nov. ‘07). She most recently charted with ‘Dancing’ (#46 Jan. ’18).
