Celine Dion - The Colour Of My Love

Celine Dion took out her first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart when The Colour Of My Love spent eight weeks in the top spot between May and September in 1995. The Canadian artist’s third English language album debuted at #9 in March 1994, spending 17 weeks in the Top 50 that year before dropping out. It returned at #50 in February 1995 before hitting #1 for the first time in May. After four weeks at #1 in May, it returned to the peak for two weeks in July/August before finally hitting #1 for two more weeks in September.

In total, The Colour Of My Love spent 36 weeks in the Top Ten and 77 weeks in the Top 50. It appeared in the ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart in three consecutive years: sitting at #48 in 1994, #2 in 1995 and #22 in 1996. The album was accredited 8x Platinum.

Singles released from The Colour Of My Love included ‘The Power Of Love’ (#1 Apr. ’94), ‘Think Twice’ (#2 Apr. ’95) and ‘Only One Road’ (#23 Apr. ’95).

Celine Dion has also topped the ARIA Albums Chart with Falling Into You (#1 Mar. ’96), Let’s Talk About Love (#1 Nov. ’97), Playlist: All The Way... A Decade Of Song (#1 Dec. ’99), A New Day Has Come (#1 Apr. ’02). She also featured on the chart-topping soundtrack to Titanic (#1 Feb. ’98).

This week, Celine Dion sits at #4 on the Albums Chart with the compilation The Best So Far...2018 Tour Edition.

Single

U2 - Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me

‘Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me’ became U2’s third #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart when it spent six straight weeks in the top spot during July/August 1995. The first single released from the soundtrack to Batman Forever (#6 Jul. ’95) debuted at #1 and went on to spend a total of eight weeks in the Top Ten and 13 weeks in the Top 50.

The single was accredited Gold and was #29 in the 1995 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart.

One other track from Batman Forever topped the Singles Chart: Seal’s ‘Kiss From A Rose’ (#1 Aug. ’95)

U2 has also topped the Singles Chart with ‘Desire’ (#1 Oct. ’88), ‘The Fly’ (#1 Nov. ’91), ‘Beautiful Day’ (#1 Oct. ’00) and the collaboration with Green Day ‘The Saints Are Coming’ (#1 Nov. ’06). They last charted with ‘Get On Your Boots’ (#26 Feb. ’09).
