Dance Monkey scores Tones And I fourth week at #1

Moves for Blanco Brown, Lil Tecca and more!

Tones And I holds #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for a fourth consecutive week with ‘Dance Monkey’. The Byron Bay artist also sits at #20 this week with ‘Johnny Run Away’ and #21 with ‘Never Seen The Rain’. The last time a single by Australian female solo artist to spent four straight weeks at #1 was Gabriella Cilmi’s ‘Sweet About Me’ in May/June 2008 (it spent a total of five non-consecutive weeks in the top spot).

Notching up its tenth week in the Top 50, Blanco Brown’s ‘The Git Up’ moves up two more spots to claim another new peak at #6. The country rap track peaked at #14 in America.

A week on from debuting at #15, Lil Tecca’s ‘Ransom’ storms into the Top Ten at #8. It also peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.

Eight weeks into its chart run, ‘One Thing Right’ by American producer Marshmello moves up three to hit the Top Ten for the first time. Featuring country singer Kane Brown, it’s the third country crossover track to feature in this week’s Top Ten along with Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ and Blanco Brown’s ‘The Git Up’.

Debuts:

#15: Taylor Swift ‘Lover’ – With Taylor Swift’s seventh album likely to appear in the upper reaches of next week’s Albums Chart, its title track becomes the fourth song to hit the Singles Chart. ‘Lover’ follows ‘Me!’ (#2 May ’19), ‘You Need To Calm Down’ (#3 Jun. ’19) and ‘The Archer’ (#19 Aug. ’19) into the Top 50. Like much of the album, ‘Lover’ was co-produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff.

#22: Miley Cyrus ‘Slide Away’ – Miley Cyrus picks up her second Top 50 entry for 2019 with ‘Slide Away’. The single was released less than a week after Cyrus and husband Liam Hemsworth announced their separation. Cyrus charted earlier in the year with ‘Mother’s Daughter’ (#21 Jun. ’19).

#41: Khalid ‘Right Back’ – American singer-songwriter Khalid scores another Singles Chart entry with ‘Right Back’. The track originally featured on Khalid’s second album, Free Spirit (#2 Apr. ’19) and has now charted after a single version featuring rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was released.

#47: Normani ‘Motivation’ – Normani takes out her first solo entry on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Motivation’. The track was co-written by, among others, Ariana Grande. Normani previously charted when she collaborated with Khalid on ‘Love Lies’ (#3 Apr. ’18) and Sam Smith on ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ (#6 Apr. ’19).
