Matchbox Twenty - MAd Season

Releasing their second studio album, American band Matchbox Twenty took out the second of their four #1s on the ARIA Albums Chart. Mad Season came two years after the band’s debut album, Yourself Or Someone Like You (#1 May ’98), hit the top spot. Debuting at #1, the album ended up spending a total of 15 weeks in the Top Ten and 60 weeks in the Top 50.

Three singles from Mad Season hit the ARIA Top 50: ‘Bent’ (#19 May ’00), ‘If You’re Gone’ (#18 Jan. ’01) and the title track (#42 Mar. ’01).

Mad Season received a 4x Platinum accreditation and charted at #15 on the ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart in 2000.

Matchbox Twenty next charted with More Than You Think You Are (#3 Sept. ’03). They’ve since hit the top of the Albums Chart with Exile On Mainstream (#1 Oct. ’07) and North (#1 Sept. ’12).



Bomfunk MC's - Freestyler

Finnish hip hop group the Bomfunk MC’s scored their only #1 on the ARIA Charts when the single ‘Freestyler’ held the top spot for three weeks in July 2000. The first single from the group’s debut album, In Stereo (#24 Oct. ’00), ‘Freestyler’ debuted at #22 in May before hitting #1 for the first time in its seventh week on the chart. The single went on to spend a total of 12 weeks in the Top Ten and 17 weeks in the Top 50.

Being accredited 2x Platinum, ‘Freestyler’ was #3 on the 2000 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart.

The Bomfunk MC’s also hit the Top Ten with ‘B-Boys & Fly Girls’ (#7 Oct. ’00). Their last appearance on the Singles Chart was with ‘Super Electric’ (#39 Feb. ’02).
