West Australian trio Eskimo Joe picked up their first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart when their third studio album, Black Fingernails, Red Wine, spent four weeks at the top of the chart in June and July 2006.

The follow-up to A Song Is A City (#2 May ’04) spent its first three weeks on the chart at #1 before dropping back to #2 and #3 respectively in its fourth and fifth week in the chart. It returned to #1 in its sixth week in the chart. In total, Black Fingernails, Red Wine spent 30 weeks in the top ten and 51 weeks in the top 50.

The album spawned the singles ‘Black Fingernails, Red Wine’ (#6 Jun. ’06), ‘Sarah’ (#12 Oct. ’06) and ‘New York’ (#26 Feb. ’07).

Accredited 4x Platinum, Black Fingernails, Red Wine was #7 on the 2006 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart.

Eskimo Joe won four gongs at the 2006 ARIA Awards, including Single Of The Year for ‘Black Fingernails, Red Wine’.

The band also topped the Albums Chart with follow-up Inshalla (#1 Jun. ’09). They last charted with Wastelands (#12 Sept. ’13).



The third of Shakira’s three #1s to date on the ARIA Singles Chart came when ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ spent nine straight weeks in the top spot in mid-2006.

The second single released from the Colombian artist’s seventh studio album and second English language album, Oral Fixation Vol.2 (#9 Jul. ’06), ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ debuted at #1 in mid-June and stayed there until mid-August. It went on to spend a total of 14 weeks in the top ten and 24 weeks in the top 50.

‘Hips Don’t Lie’ was #3 on the 2006 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart. It was accredited Platinum.
Shakira’s first two #1s on the ARIA Singles Chart were with ‘Whenever, Wherever’ (#1 Feb. ’02) and ‘Underneath Your Clothes’ (#1 May ’02). She last charted with ‘Can't Remember To Forget You’ (#18 Feb. ’14).
