Kings Of LEon - Only By The Night

American rock band Kings Of Leon took out the first of their three #1s to date on the ARIA Albums Chart when Only By The Night spent 14 non-consecutive weeks in the top spot between September 2008 and April 2009. The Tennessee quartet’s fourth album debuted at #4 before hitting #1 for the first time in its second week in the chart. After an initial run of four weeks at #1, Only By The Night spent ten weeks moving between #2 and #3 before hitting #1 again in January 2009 and staying there for six weeks. The album’s final run at the top came in mid-March for four weeks.

In total Only By The Night spent 33 weeks in the Top Ten and 72 weeks in the Top 50. The album went on to be accredited 9x Platinum and landed at #1 and #7 on the ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart in 2008 and 2009, respectively.

Singles released from Only By The Night included ‘Sex On Fire’ (#1 Oct. ’08), ‘Use Somebody’ (#2 Jan. ’09), ‘Revelry’ (#21 Mar. ’09), ‘Manhattan’ (#38 Mar. ’09) and ‘Notion’ (#46 Aug. ’09).

Kings Of Leon later topped the ARIA Albums Chart with Come Around Sundown (#1 Oct. ’10) and Mechanical Bull (#1 Sept. ’13). Their most recent chart appearance was with Walls (#3 Oct. ’16).

Lady Gaga - Poker Face

American pop star Lady Gaga scored her second #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart when ‘Poker Face’ spent eight weeks in the top spot between November 2008 and January 2009. Released as a single from The Fame (#3 Dec. ’09), ‘Poker Face’ debuted at #26 in October and hit #1 for the first time in its sixth week on the chart. First spending four weeks at #1, the single dropped back to #2 for a week before returning to #1 for a further four weeks. ‘Poker Face’ spent a total of 16 weeks in the Top Ten and 42 weeks in the Top 50.

‘Poker Face’ was accredited 6x Platinum. It was #14 on the 2008 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart and #11 on the 2009 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart. The track also landed at #4 on the ARIA End Of Decade Singles Chart.

Lady Gaga first topped the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Just Dance’ (#1 Sept. ’08). She has since hit #1 with ‘Born This Way’ (#1 Feb. ’11) and, from the soundtrack to A Star Is Born, ‘Shallow’ (#1 Oct. ’18).
