Debuts for Tones And I, Lana Del Rey, G Flip and more!

American Alternative metal band Tool score their third #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart as they return with fifth album, Fear Inoculum (more below).
 
Travis Scott’s former #1 Astroworld jumps up 32 spots to #12 in its 48th week in the Top 50.
 
Following its physical release, Bon Iver’s i,i returns to the Top 50 at #14. The American act’s fourth album debut on the chart at #8.
 
Debuts:

#1: Tool ‘Fear Inoculum’ – Releasing their first album in 13 years, American alternative metal band Tool score their third #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Fear Inoculum is Tool’s fifth studio album and the follow-up to 10,000 Days (#1 May ’06). In the lead-up to the release of the new album, the band released their back catalogue onto digital services for the first time, leading to them scoring five entries on the Top 50 back in August. Tool first hit #1 with Lateralus (#1 May ’01).
 
#3: Tones And I ‘The Kids Are Coming - EP’ – Singles Chart chart-topper Tones And I makes her Albums Chart debut with The Kids Are Coming. The Byron Bay artist’s debut EP features the #1 single ‘Dance Monkey’, as well as ‘Johnny Run Away’ (#12 Jun. ’19) and ‘Never Seen The Rain’ (#21 Aug. ’19), plus three new tracks. The EP has also appeared in the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart at #5.
 
#4: Lana Del Rey ‘Norman F**King Rockwell!’ – Lana Del Rey picks up her fifth Top Five entry with sixth album, Norman F**King Rockwell! The American singer-songwriter’s previous four albums all hit #1 on the ARIA Charts: Born To Die (#1 Feb. ’12), Ultraviolence (#1 Jun. ’14), Honeymoon (#1 Sept. ’15) and Lust For Life (#1 Jul. ’17).
 
#6: G Flip ‘About Us’ – Melbourne’s G Flip scores her Albums Chart debut with About Us. It’s the debut album from singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Georgia Flipo and features all the singles she released during 2018 and 2019. She’ll be touring nationally in November in support of the album. About Us is #1 on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.
 
#13: Lil Tecca ‘We Love You Tecca’ – American rapper Lil Tecca releases his debut mixtape We Love You Tecca. His first release to appear on the Albums Chart includes current single ‘Ransom’ (#8 Aug. ’19), which reached #5 in the US.
 
#19: Montaigne ‘Complex’ – Returning with Complex, Sydney’s Montaigne takes out a second chart entry. The singer-songwriter’s second album is the follow-up to Glorious Heights (#4 Aug. ’16), which won the Breakthrough Artist - Release category at the 2016 ARIA Awards.
 
#21: DZ Deathrays ‘Positive Rising: Part 1’ – Brisbane’s DZ Deathrays release their fourth album, Positive Rising: Part 1. Coming just over a year on from Bloody Lovely (#4 Feb. ’18), the album marks the group’s first release as a trio, with former touring member Lachlan Ewbank becoming a full-time member. Positive Rising: Part 1 is the first half of a double album project the band have completed.
 
#40: Ash Grunwald ‘Mojo’ – Singer-songwriter Ash Grunwald returns with Mojo. The follow-up to 2015’s Now is Grunwald’s first Top 50 entry since Gargantua (#46 Jul. ’13) and features contributions from Kasey Chambers, Mahalia Barnes, Joe Bonamassa, The Cat Empire’s Harry James Angus and more.
 
#43: Paul Kelly, James Ledger ‘Thirteen Ways To Look At Birds’ – Paul Kelly scores his fifth Top 50 entry in four years with Thirteen Ways To Look At Birds. The latest album from the acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter reinterprets bird-inspired poems by John Keats, Thomas Hardy, Emily Dickinson, Judith Wright and others. Kelly is joined by the Seraphim Trio along with composer James Ledger and singer-songwriter Alice Keath. Kelly has topped the Albums Chart recently with Life Is Fine (#1 Aug. ’17) and Nature (#1 Oct. ’18).
