July 4, 2020

Moves by Harry Styles, Jack Harlow and more!

Three weeks into its run on the ARIA Singles Chart, ‘Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat)’ by Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo jumps up two spots to hit #1. It becomes the fourth #1 single for American R&B star Derulo after ‘In My Head’ (#1 Feb. ’10), ‘Talk Dirty’ (#1 Aug. ’13) and ‘Trumpets’ (#1 Dec. ’13). It becomes the first #1 in Australia for 17-year-old Josh Nanai from Auckland, New Zealand, also known as producer Jawsh 685. He’s the first New Zealand lead artist to have a #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart in 24 years, and only the third since the ARIA Charts began. It follows Dave Dobbyn with Herbs’ ‘Slice Of Heaven’ (#1 May ’87) and OMC’s ‘How Bizarre’ (#1 Apr. ’96).
After two weeks at #6, Harry Styles’ ‘Watermelon Sugar’ moves to a new peak at #5. Styles’ Fine Line (#1 Dec. ’19) moves back up from #6 to #3 this week in its 29th week in the Albums Chart Top Ten.
In its 13th week in the Top 50, Jack Harlow’s ‘Whats Poppin’ races up 29 spots to #9, cracking the Top Ten for the first time. Its surge comes on the back of a new remix released this week featuring DaBaby, Tory Lanez and Lil Wayne. The single previously peaked at #22.
There are also new peaks this week for Brando’s ‘Look Into My Eyes’ (#27), Nea’s ‘Some Say’ (#33) and the Hilltop Hoods’ ‘I’m Good?’ (#46).
#12: Blackpink ‘How You Like That’ – K-pop stars Blackpink hit the Top 50 for a second time this year as they release ‘How You Like That’. It’s the first track to come from the quartet’s forthcoming debut Korean-language studio album, set to come out in September. The group charted earlier in the 2020 with their collaboration with Lady Gaga, ‘Sour Candy’ (#8 Jun. ’20). Blackpink made their first appearance on the chart with ‘Kill This Love’ (#18 Apr. ’19).
#23: Guy Sebastian ‘Standing With You’ – Guy Sebastian returns ‘Standing With You’, his first single for 2020. The fourth single from Sebastian’s forthcoming ninth studio album is his first to chart since ‘Choir’ (#7 Jul. ’19), which won Song Of The Year and Best Video at the 2019 ARIA Awards. It’s Guy Sebastian’s 24th single to appear in the ARIA Top 50.
