The Weeknd hits eight weeks at #1 with Blinding Lights

‘Blinding Lights’ by The Weeknd makes it eight weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The Canadian artist was the musical guest on this week’s Saturday Night Live, where he performed ‘Blinding Lights’ and new track ‘Scared To Live’.
 
Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now’ holds #2 for a tenth non-consecutive week. It joins Maroon 5’s ‘Moves Like Jagger’ (#2 Sept. ’11) at equal second for most weeks spent at #2 on the ARIA Singles Chart without hitting #1. The current record holder is The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy’ (#2 Dec. ’16), which spent twelve non-consecutive weeks at #2. Her single ‘Physical’ hits a new peak this week at #14.
 
Nine weeks into its run in the chart, Halsey’s ‘You Should Be Sad’ hits a new peak at #4.
 
After storming into the Top Ten last week, Doja Cat’s ‘Say So’ moves up a further three spots this week and into the Top Five for the first time. The single has also become a Top Ten hit in the UK and New Zealand, and a Top 20 in the US. Her album Hot Pink has another new peak this week at #19.
 
As it notches up its fourth week in the Top 50, SAINt JHN’s ‘Roses’ climbs 18 spots to land a new peak at #12. The track hit #2 in the UK last week.
 
Moving to #16, Surfaces’ ‘Sunday Best’ hits a new high.
 
In its second week in the chart, Powfu’s ‘Death Bed’ jumps 15 spots to #17.
 
This week’s chart also features new peaks for Benee’s ‘Glitter’ (#21), Lil Mosey’s ‘Blueberry Faygo’ (#31), The Rubens’ ‘Live In Life’ (#34), Conan Gray’s ‘Maniac’ (#37), 24KGOLDN’s ‘City Of Angels’ (#39) and Endor’s ‘Pump It Up’ (#41).

#11: Benee Feat. Gus Dapperton ‘Supalonely’ – New Zealand artist Benee takes out a new Singles Chart peak as she hits #11 with ‘Supalonely’. Featuring American artist Gus Dapperton, the song comes from Benee’s second EP, Stella & Steve, which was released in November 2019. Benee first appeared on the chart with ‘Glitter’ (#21 Mar. ’20).
 
#48: Lil Uzi Vert ‘Baby Pluto’ – As well as topping this week’s Albums Chart, Lil Uzi Vert grabs a Singles Chart entry this week. ‘Baby Pluto’ is the opening track on Eternal Atake. Lil Uzi Vert first hit the Singles Chart with ‘XO TOUR Llif3’ (#37 Jun. ’17).
